Malrotation of intestine



Abstract
Malrotation of intestine may be difficult to understand without study of the intestinal rotation
in embryonic stage, and many clinical points would be overlooked.
Symptoms of this disease are various.
About 75% of this disease develop symptoms within one of age in Snyder¢¥s series. Most common
symptoms of this disease are nausea, vomitting and distended abdomen due to band and volvulus.
In our experience of two cases, one developed symptoms, vomitting, nausea and abdominal disten
tion on 3 days of his life and the other one at age of 3 months.
Treatment of this trouble is operation, lysis, detorsion and fixation.
Many surgeons tried a method of no fixation of the intestine in its normal position after being
freed the bowl is returned to the abdomen, while Wangensteen reported a met hod of fixation of
intestine in its normal position.
In our cases, correction of malrotation was carried out by Ladd¢¥s methods and no fixation of
bowel in normal position were dine, and the post-operative course was uneventful and follow up
study was satisfactory.
